Building A Healthier Georgia, Together
Discover how Georgia can become a true State of Healing when communities unite to support public health and family stability. Learn about our mission to strengthen Georgia by addressing critical challenges and fostering community partnerships.

Our vision for a State of Healing
Georgia can become a true State of Healing when communities work together to support both public health and the everyday stability of families. Our goal is to strengthen Georgia across the board by addressing the challenges many families face — including housing instability, homelessness, single-parent households, grandparents raising grandchildren, and lack of access to basic resources. By supporting families, promoting transparency in public health, and building strong community partnerships, we believe Georgia can grow into a healthier, stronger state for everyone.
State of Healing
Georgia communities are experiencing rising public health challenges linked to long-term environmental contamination. Compared to the national average, North Georgia sees higher rates of:
- Certain cancers
- Fertility complications
- Neurological conditions such as epilepsy
Northwest Georgia residents are facing unusually high levels of industrial chemical exposure. Research from Emory University shows that over 40% of residents in NW Georgia have PFAS levels in their blood well above federal safety thresholds, far exceeding 95% of the U.S. population.
This persistent chemical exposure has documented impacts on health, including risks to reproductive health, immune function, and long-term organ health. While environmental contamination affects the state broadly, Northwest Georgia communities are experiencing some of the highest exposure levels in the nation.
Our Approach:
- Education: Help families understand the risks of PFAS and other industrial contaminants
- Monitoring: Support community-based testing and blood monitoring initiatives
- Advocacy: Push for policies like the ERZ Act to hold responsible parties accountable
- Family Support: Prioritize helping families protect their health and access resources

Support for Georgia families
Through our State of Healing initiative, we aim to support families and individuals facing difficult circumstances by helping meet everyday needs and connecting people with resources. Support may include: Diapers, wipes, and baby essentials; Clothing and school supplies for children; Toiletries and hygiene products; Non-perishable food; Assistance locating stable housing; Help with small home repairs. We want people facing difficult circumstances to feel supported, understood, and encouraged to reach out without fear of judgment.

Why a State of Healing is vital for Georgia
Across Georgia, many families are doing everything they can just to stay afloat. What many people don’t realize is how quickly stability can disappear. One job loss, medical bill, or housing increase can push a family into crisis. In today’s economy, many hardworking Georgians are not failing — they are simply overwhelmed.
A State of Healing means recognizing these realities and building communities where people support one another, helping families regain stability before temporary struggles become long-term hardship.
"When communities work together, small acts of support can create meaningful change and help Georgia move closer to becoming a true State of Healing."
